Where can I buy a fresh pumpkin out of season?

I want to home brew a pumpkin ale for Halloween. It takes about one full month to brew, and I’d like to do one practice attempt first, so that means I need to obtain a pumpkin now even though Halloween is about two months away. I know that some recipes do not require actual pumpkin, but the one I want to use does. Also, canned pumpkin will not work. I want to somehow obtain a fresh whole pumpkin in late August/Early September.

I already harvested my pumpkins. They are ready now.

Yesterday I drove by a pumpkin barn and they are selling them. Another guy has them. They are ready now, not in October. Why do people give me thumbs down when I tell the truth? Blooming id10ts on this site.

Your best bet would be to visit a local Farmer’s Market. At least where I’m from some of the farmers grow some of their produce in greenhouses year round. But other than that, good luck.

  • Britney says:

Go to a farmer’s market or an asian or hispanic supermarket. I always see fresh pumpkins in the produce sections of Super H Mart (which is a national or at least a regional chain so go if you have one near you).

Out of season veg/fruit is force grown and therefore you should avoid buying out of season if you can.. organic is always better.. however, if your desperate for a pumpkin then try a farmers market
