What is a good traditional Irish recipe?

My boyfriend is Irish and absolutely loves Irish food but doesn’t know what any of it is called.

Can anyone recommend some good traditional recipes for me to make?I don’t need a recipe, I can just look them up, I just kind of want a list of things.

One Response to What is a good traditional Irish recipe?

  • Sir Digby Fledgling-Humphrey says:

    Traditional Irish soups would be:

    Leek & Thyme
    Pea & Ham
    Nettle
    Yellow Broth
    Celery

    Fish Dishes:

    Salmon with Sorrel
Plaice in a Green Jacket (lettuce)
    Cod with Parsley Sauce
    Seafood Pie

    Main Courses & Accompaniments:

    Chicken, Leek & Bacon Casserole.
Coddle (potato, sausage, bacon & onion bake)
    Boiled Ham & Cabbage
    Irish Stew
    Steak with Stout
    Steak, Guinness & Oyster Pie
Champ (mashed potatoes with spring onion [scallion])
    Colcannon (potatoes, cabbage & onion)
Potato Cakes (also known as Griddle Cakes)

    Desserts:

    Bread Pudding
    Marmalade Pudding
    Pralie Apple pie with Honey
    Carrot Pudding
Barm Brack (traditional Halloween fruit cake)

If you do need any recipe, I’ll be glad to pass it on.
