I'm making myself a dress for my Halloween costume. What measurements do I need to buy materials?

I’m making a Harley Quinn dress for my halloween costume, and I need to know what measurements I need to take before going to purchase materials. It will be a tight-fit on the top, and will use wire to fan out at the bottom skirt.

you need to get a tape measure , then measure the size of your bust(breast),you also need to measure around your stomach for your top
then for the bottom your need to measure your waist and measure around your thighs to get the exact right sizes you need..good luck!! hope it looks great!…i know these things from previous modeling cases

Are you doing this with or without a pattern? If you are using a pattern, check it carefully. It will tell you how much fabric to purchase for your size. It will also tell you which measurements you need to determine your size for that pattern.

If you are doing this without a pattern, check your drawings. You should have measurements there so you know how big to cut things. You’ll need at least a yard for the top, if not 1.5yd. For the skirt, is it floor-length? Is it full? If so, you’ll likely need at least 3 yards for that if not more.
