How to get paint off skin. We were using Soap and Water clean up paint?

My husband and I and 3 grandchildren were painting Halloween Decorations for the yard the kids got as much on them and their clothes as the decorations did. We tried soap and water, and fingernail polish remover and even a dish scratcher. But paint refuses to come off. It is on some of there clothes also.

try salad oil and salt. The oil breaks down the oil in the paint (oil dissolves oil) and the salt…handful……is a good scrubber. Kids can do this and will keep them from screaming.

WD40 would also work……..it’s fish oil.

    Clothes are history.

You might try either denatured alcohol, or turpentine (if it’s oil based paint).

  • Mary says:

Try paint thinner or turpentine. Sounds as if it were oil-based paint. Or ask someone at a paint shop like Sherwin Williams for advice.

  • Karen L says:

Water based paint comes off skin after soaking a bit, so a bath and a little scrubbing usually does it. The clothes, well, not so much. If the paint has dried before the clothes go in the washer, it won’t come out.
